Notes: The strapend is of folded metal construction. It is a folded and die struck sheet. The roping is at the bottom, and there are two rivet holes at the top. Both rivets are missing. The letters are stamped and and surrounded with scallops top and bottom. There is a row of scallops on the top edge. Most likely this is for use with a fabric belt which was commonly seen in the 15th century.

Item was found near Southwark Bridge on the Thames River, England on the north side of the river in the 1980s.

Notes: Strap end singular top plate with a scalloped disign around the longest sides and straight line inat the end where the plate joins the belt. There is a heart shape cut out which would allow the belt to show through. There are 3 piercings for rives which are all present. No roves are noted. It is unclear whether this is a top plate or designed to be a stand-alone piece.

Notes: Strap end is cast, and terminated with a collar and tri-lobe. The body of the strap terminates in a double concave with small, central V shape. It has two rivets which are present and in tact with a small amount of possible leather strap around the posts.

The projecting terminal end of the spacer is decorated with a traingular shape topped with a ball and a small projecting collar at its base, near to the curved ends of the attached plates. Two rivets remain. Single line of wrigglework crossing the front from corner to corner.

Notes: Strap end appears to be one piece with front plate, decorative acorn knop and back plate without rivets. Acorn terminus has a small projecting collar at its base and semi-circular indentations where it meets the body of the spacer. Strap end is possibly unbroken, although the back plate is shorter than the front plate and may indicate that it is broken at that point.

Notes: Square shaped box chape strap end with decorative end and 2 raised bands top and bottom. Tri-lobed flower terminus sits at the apex of the piece.Traces of silver gilding remain on the reverse of the strap end. 2 holes pierce both layers. Cast in one piece with a hollow casing for the belt. Extremely faint indications of a design on the body. No rivets remain.

Possible fragment of textile remains.

: The strap end is in poor condition although it is complete and unbroken.

It is constructed of two plates without a central spacer. Each of the plates has two piercings which join with rivets which remain unbroken in situ.

The rivets appear to be made from a different material to the strap end plates themselves.

No trace of decoration or gilding remains.

Notes: One half of a strap end with two piercings for rivets which are absent. The plate terminates with a round end and has three concave semi-circles at the end where the belt meets. The largest of these is the central one which is flanked by the two piercings. The plate is otherwise undecorated.

Extremely light weight. Length measurement is if artifact was measured lying flat without bend as it would have been when in use.

: Single plate, incomplete. The plate does not appear to have any piercings for rivet attachments, which would indicate that the strap end is broken off below where the rivet would be.

The extremely small size of the item also indicated that it may be a fragment and not complete.

In spite of the tiny nature of the strap end, a series of three dots are present around the edge of the plate. This would have been a delicate item when new.
